Bekir Cinar completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship, Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School (HMS), Boston, MA (2002-2006) and Ph.D. from Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, School of Medicine University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA (1995-2002), D.V.M., Veterinary Medical School, Ankara University, Ankara, Turkey (1987-1992). Currently he is working as Associate Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, Clark Atlanta University (CAU), Atlanta, GA 2015 to present. Presently, He is also member of the Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development at CAU and a member of the NCI-designated Winship Comprehensive Cancer Center at Emory University. Prior to joining CAU, Dr. Cinar was Assistant Professor of Medicine-Hematology/Oncology and Biomedical Sciences at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was a member of Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.

His research focus is on signal transduction and gene expression mechanisms relevant to cancer development, progression, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance in disease models, particularly prostate cancer, which is a leading causes of cancer deaths among men in the United States and Western countries. Currently, my laboratory studies the Hippo-YAP-AR signaling axis to understand the molecular mechanisms of prostate cancer progression, metastasis and acquired resistance. His laboratory utilizes variety of complementary approaches including proteomics, genomics and bioinformatics as well cell cultures including 3D cultures, animal models and clinical samples to carry out the proposed research. Dr. Nadia Benkirane is Research director and head of the “ Osteoarticular and Dental regenerative Nanomedicine” laboratory, at INSERM (French National Institute for Health and Medical Research), UMR 1109, Strasbourg, France. She was leader of “Active Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering” team INSERM 977. She received her Ph.D. from University Louis Pasteur, ULP, Strasbourg, France for the work on Development of pseudopeptides as synthetic vaccines. Dr. Jessel (Benkirane) then held a postdoctoral position in collaboration with the Institut Pasteur, Paris, France, working on Immunotherapy HIV, and another postdoctoral position on the application of modified peptides as vaccines against FMDV (Plum Island Animal Disease Center, ARS, USDA, Greenport, NY 11944-0848, USA). She joined the INSERM U595 in 2002 as a post-doc, and received the diploma to direct the research (HDR) in 2004. Dr. Jessel got the permanent position (CR1) in the INSERM 595 laboratory in 2004 and Research Director (DR2) position in the INSERM 977 and head of “active Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering team from 2009 until 2012). Currently Research Director (DR1) in the INSERM UMR 1109 (Osteoarticular and Dental Regenerative Nanomedicine" and heads the team. Dr. Jessel possesses expertise in diverse fields of molecular and cellular biology, immunochemistry, tissue engineering and biomedical engineering. In the last 10 years, she focused her research on the bio-functionalization of multilayered polyelectrolyte architectures with emphasis on the use of these architectures to induce specific cellular responses and gain control over cell proliferation and differentiation. Dr. Benkirane-Jessel have 138 publications (h index: 36) with peer-reviewed publications in high impact factor journals (Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. USA; Adv. Mater.; Adv. Funct. Dr. Goutam Thakur is presently an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal University, India. He received his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Master’s in Biomedical Engineering (Jadavpur University, India) and earned PhD in Medical Science and Technology from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India. He has worked both in industry and in academia. He was an International Visiting Research fellow at Ryerson University, Canada (2008-2009). He has presented paper in some prestigious International conferences abroad and earned accolades. He has been honoured with European Doctoral Award (2012) and Rudolph Cimdin Award (2009) by European Society of Biomaterials and was also nominated for Young Investigator Award at ISOMRM-2010, Taiwan. He has peer-reviewed international published articles to his credit.

Biography Prof. Dong-ik Kim is the Chief of Division of Vascular Surgery, Samsung Medical Center, South Korea. Earlier, he served as a President of Korean Society for Stem Cell Research and Vice- President of Society for Vascular Biomedical Engineering. He also worked as a professor of Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine in South Korea. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of “International Journal of Stem Cells” and is present in the Editorial Board of seven other world-renowned journals. In the recent years, he has been researching on therapeutic angiogenesis using stem cells, tissue engineering of vascular prosthetic graft, pathogenesis of intimal hyperplasia, pathogenesis of Buerger's disease and pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. He published more than 170 international articles and 100 domestic articles. He also published 6 medical books as a Chief Editor.

Gallicchio earned his Ph.D. in Experimental Hematology at New York University Medical Center and completed fellowships in hematology at the Sloan Kettering Institute for Cancer Research and at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He was awarded a diploma in internal medicine from the “Vasile Goldis” University of Arad (Romania). He has served on the faculty at Yale University School of Medicine, University of Kentucky Medical Center, University of Central Lancashire (England), and University of Wolverhampton (England). He has served as President of Alpha Eta Honor Society, the International Society for Lithium Research, International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science and currently serves as Vice President of the Educational and Research Centers in Trace Elements operated under the auspice of UNESCO. He is a Fellow of the Association of Clinical Scientists, the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions, and the Royal Society of the Arts. In 2003, at a 200th anniversary RSA event, because of his long-standing effort to educate and train biomedical laboratory science students from England, Dr. Gallicchio was recognized for his efforts by being presented to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Dr. Vincent S. Gallicchio has 45 years experience in academic medicine and research covering experimental hematology, immunology, stem cell biology, and developmental therapeutics for human diseases such as AIDS and cancer. He has earned national and international recognition for his efforts. In a first time study reporting on academic scholarly productivity in the Journal of Clinical Laboratory Science, Dr. Gallicchio was rated the number one academic biomedical laboratory science researcher in the United States. His rating of 551 was nearly twice that of the next closest professor’s score of 285. Additionally, during his leadership, the academic program in Clinical Laboratory Science at the University of Kentucky Medical Center was rated the number one program of its kind among 127 in the nation. His passion for research, a high value placed on excellence, a strong reputation as an esteemed collaborator, and a tenacious desire to see a better therapies for human diseases brought to market speak to his overall character.
